Our Felicitous Mission
At P. Pleasant Atelier, our pursuit is one of whimsy...
magic lives in the unexpected.
We know that the modern human world can often feel quite mundane. For centuries, magical folk like P and the team here at the Atelier have watched people's eyes glaze over as they trudge through rote responsibilities, trite entertainment, and unimaginative spaces. I mean, that duplicative work meeting could have surely been a well-written note...or a duel? And folding sheets and underwear is akin to the type of torture Captain Hendrick van der Decken endured. The sheer volume of exhausting expectations thrust upon contemporary humans leaves very little room for serendipity.
Well, everyone deserves a bit of magic in their everyday lives. And that is exactly what everyone at P. Pleasant is striving to share. We promise you have felt it before, even if it wasn't from a wizard's spell or an elf's incantation. It is the feeling of finding the Italian Renaissance artist’s portrait in the crowd of their painted masterpiece, or a well-placed easter egg in a video game. It is the thrill of something hiding in plain sight, a secret that *maybe* you are the first to discover. Because true magic is not something one being can own or keep to themselves. It can only survive with the thrill of unanticipated connection—however fleeting—to something extraordinary.
At the Atelier, P and her team create art and artifacts specifically for humankind, so they can own and share magic with others of their ilk. For centuries, P only allowed magical folk to own or place her masterpieces. Over time, she encountered numerous observant humans who were delighted by art that was secreted away in plain sight. These imaginative souls—
the ones you see looking for four-leafed clovers...
or a bunny-shaped cloud,
who notice an industrious line of ants on the sidewalk,
or look behind the tomes on a bookcase—
are the type stewards for whom we create. Someone like you. So take a look around, check in the corners and take your time. Magic lives in the unexpected.
